When Koen Luyten (31) decides to do something, he puts everything into it. Not only in his spare time, as a deep-sea diver, but also as a .NET consultant and practice manager at Ordina. Recently he celebrated his 9th year at work – the ideal moment to discover what makes him tick.
How did you come into contact with Ordina?
Koen: “I was on a Bachelor course in applied computing in Ghent, and at the end of the academic year, Ordina came to give lectures for a number of days to students who were interested. I was immediately convinced by the combination of technical know-how and the focus on personal growth. In the past 9 years, I have seen the company grow strongly, but the group atmosphere and the focus on personal development have remained consistent values.”
How do you contribute to your own personal development at Ordina?
“As a practice manager, I help colleagues to achieve their ambitions. I examine which courses are suitable for our people, and whether they fit into Ordina’s over-arching strategy. In addition, I ensure that we are properly represented at international conferences.”
Which project has made the most lasting impression on you to date?
“As a consultant, you have the advantage of being able to work on quite a lot of different assignments for various clients. You learn from every assignment, but one project at Eandis will always stay with me as a turning point in my career. I was part of a Scrum team, which mostly consisted of senior consultants. During this period, I not only acquired a great deal of technical knowledge, but I also learned how agile can work with a large team. I was then able to use that experience in subsequent projects when I operated as a Scrum-master.”
