As an API architect you are the bridge between business and IT, you know how to support organizations in the development of their API strategy. From your experience you know how to translate business requirements into the most optimal IT solution. You do this by identifying the application landscape and reusable services of the customer. You always start from the perspective of service economy and API-first thinking. In addition, you have experience with integration projects and know the different patterns that you can implement to turn an organisation into a connected company. You have a vision on how to establish effective API governance within the organisation resulting in a clear API approach and reference architecture. As a specialist you are perfectly aware of the importance of well-designed APIs. You also have sufficient technical baggage and expertise as a technical architect to allow teams of developers and analysts to implement APIs correctly.

Who we are looking for

  • You have 10 years of relevant work experience with at least 2 years as an application or solution architect
  • You have in-depth knowledge of RESTful API design, API-first development and API contracts such as OpenAPI, Pact or Spring Cloud Contract
  • You have a technical background in cloud-native development with a good view on the Java landscape, containerization and orchestration, and cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS
  • You are familiar with development methodologies, standards, technical risks and architectural patterns including event-driven architectures, cloud-native architectures, n-tier, onion architecture, …
  • You have experience with application modernization and integration patterns 
  • Expertise in API gateway products such as Azure API Manager, Amazon API Gateway or others is a plus
  • You share your knowledge with your colleagues through our competence centres on topics such as architecture, API design, enterprise integration, cloud and security
  • You can communicate in Dutch and English, French is a plus
