Ordina played its part, developing a dashboard solution that provides Securitas with greater insight into the workings of its service desk.

 With its headquarters in Brussels and seven regional offices across the country, Securitas provides a fascinating job for more than 5,500 people in Belgium. Trained and specialised officers are responsible for continuous surveillance, patrols, airport security and safety monitoring. Securitas also offers customers technological security solutions and quality training. The Securitas Group is active in more than fifty countries worldwide.  Customers are central to the Securitas quality policy. To guarantee them a reliable service the company always strives to honour all agreements and anticipate customer expectations. A comprehensive service desk therefore forms the beating heart of this security specialist. Insight into the workings of this service desk is vitally important for the management of Securitas. In the past, however, this always involved long lists, spreadsheets and graphs. The company went looking for a solution to be able to identify trends and incidents – bottlenecks, the processing time of calls, recurring questions, etc. – faster.


 Ordina made maximum use of the opportunities offered by the existing SharePoint infrastructure at Securitas to develop a clear and interactive dashboard. Based on Microsoft Power View, a visualisation tool for SQL Server 2012, Ordina built a solution that shows the management the operational situation at a glance. One-off incidents, but also longer-term problems are therefore quickly highlighted. The application lets you zoom in on these issues and quickly access relevant details. Finally, through a link to Microsoft Excel the management dashboards can also be used for additional research.


 Ordina’s consultants sat down with the Securitas policy team to get a clear picture of their specific expectations and needs. The entire project was part of an ambitious Proof of Concept, with the power of Power View providing insight into relevant data, within an infrastructure based on SharePoint. The PRINCE2 project methodology and Agile development principles ran like a guiding thread through the implementation process. This flexible and product-oriented approach also immediately offered Securitas the chance to learn from the experience it gained in the course of the project.
