Semantic Data Management

Giving meaning and context to data

Due to increasing digitization, many knowledge-intensive organizations are dealing with an exponential growth in data. In many cases, the meaning of this data is not clearly defined, with the result that the correct context for the data is lacking. This creates noise in the communication, making processes inefficient and meaning that decisions are made based on incomplete information. With Semantic Data Management and our Informatiehuis op Orde approach, you lay the foundation for the creation of an intelligent data-driven organization.

More effective cooperation, better service

Semantic Data Management according to the Ordina Informatiehuis op Orde approach explicitly describes the meaning of data and provides the right context. Because the right data is easier to find, access and share, your organization can quickly and consciously convert this data into meaningful information. Business decisions will be based on correct and complete information, allowing organizations to:

  • Collaborate more effectively with, for example, chain partners, because you understand and can use each other’s data.
  • Offer high-quality services on the basis of the correct information that is available at any given time.
  • Establish processes more efficiently by automating them, for example with the aid of machine learning, artificial or augmented intelligence (AI).

Case: Informatiehuis op Orde at Kadaster

The Digital System for the Environment Act (DSO) is intended to provide a single insight into whether construction, renovation or other changes that affect the environment are permitted. The information required comes from many different laws, decrees and regulations and sometimes crosses municipal boundaries. As a result, it took the Kadaster – the government service that manages the DSO – a long time to gain insight into this. With our Informatiehuis op Orde approach, we have developed a solution in which information from different governmental domains is quickly brought together in an understandable way.

The Kadaster can now very quickly make data about the living environment of citizens, businesses and government available digitally.

Our approach

Our Informatiehuis op Orde approach is a uniform method for describing data, based on semantic modelling. The approach is based on international standards and best practices developed in the Netherlands and has already proven itself in large and complex projects. Informatiehuis op Orde comprises six steps that can be carried out entirely by our experienced multidisciplinary knowledge teams and/or in cooperation with your organization.
